Barnabas Bulletin ~ 0064 IGNORANCE!We do not have to be a “rocket scientist” to know that there is an appalling ignorance in our societies today over the truth of Jesus Christ and His plans. Concerning the coming again of Jesus the Scripture makes this declaration (comparing it to the state of the people in the days of Noah): “And they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man” (see Matthew 24:36-39, NIV).The Amplified Bible says “And they did not know or understand until the flood came and swept them all away.” Their ignorance of the truth caused them to be forever lost. They did eventually recognize the truth – but it was, by then, too late! They then had to live with the realization that they should have done something about it – but they didn’t! When we think of all the opportunities that this generation has of hearing the truth of Jesus through TV, radio, literature, internet, church and crusade meetings, etc., - and, by and large, rejecting it – we Christians should be challenged afresh to make sure we are making our message clear. That message has to be “JESUS CHRIST, the only Saviour of mankind.” So many have heard of Him – and remain ignorant of the truth and power of Him. Many others have not even heard of Him to be given the choice - and so remain in their spiritual ignorance. What about us who say we know the truth; we who are not ignorant? How effective are we in the proclaiming of the truth, warning people that Jesus is coming again and that we all have to be ready to meet Him?? If this generation is ignorant because of our inability to clearly communicate the Gospel, then we will have to stand in account before God too. How important is the truth of Jesus to us? Do we carry a strong conviction that Jesus is the only way to God? Is the truth of Jesus worth living for – and even dying for? How committed, convinced and convicted are we Christians about the truth we say we have? It concerns me that so many are totally unprepared for that which is to come. In spite of all the warnings so many receive, they still choose to live on in an almost total ignorance of that which they have yet to face. None of us should feel any sense of satisfaction in the thought that “theywill all be swept away” as they had not been born-again by the Holy Spirit of Jesus. Jesus said,“That day . . . will come as a snare (“catching one unawares”) . . .” (Luke 21:34-36, NKJV). It is time for every Christian to be “sold out” for the cause of Jesus and making His truth known to our generation. Therefore we need to ask ourselves the questions: “What do we need to change in our lives in order to be much more effective? Do we know how to witness to the unsaved? Do we know how to lead a soul to the Salvation experience of receiving Jesus Christ personally into their life? Does our life reveal such a transformation that others not only want to know what we’ve got, but also how they can get it too?” Unless we Christians are challenged by that which is yet to come, we are going to be guilty of neglect – the result of which will be further ignorance in the lives of those around us. May the Lord speak to us and give us more keys to release people out of their spiritual ignorance ~ Rodney W. Francis. Bible Readings: Matthew 24; Luke 21; Mark 16:15-20. Please Pray This Prayer: “Lord, I come to You in the name of Jesus, asking You to place a stronger burden on my heart for those who are lost in sin and ignorance of Your truth. Lord, please stir me out of any complacency that is in my heart toward my part of fulfilling Your Great Commission (Mark 16:15-20). I do not want to see people miss out on an eternity in heaven with You! Give me keys that will unlock me more to unlock others into the true knowledge of God by the Holy Spirit. Help me to be a soul-winner more than ever! In Jesus’ name I pray these things, Amen.” The Gospel Faith Messenger Ministry, New Zealand. Email: This email address is being protected from spambots.
