THE IMPORTANCE OF A PERSONAL VISION
“Where there is no revelation (“prophetic vision”), the people cast off restraint” (Proverbs 29:18, NKJV) . . . “If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; But when they attend to what He reveals, they are most blessed” (Proverbs 29:18, The Message). VISION is vital for the born-again, Holy Spirit believer in Jesus Christ! We are saved to serve, and that service must be based upon the vision of God for our lives! He is the One who saves us, calls us and commissions us, so that we can fulfil His will for our lives. Without vision that will not happen. Vision is our ability to hear and perceive the voice of God; to perceive and capture in the Spirit realm the purposes of God before they become a visible and practical outworking reality. Vision has to capture us before we can capture it! Vision has to become so real that we are willing to commit our lives to it before there is any real evidence to show for that belief and commitment. Vision produces faith, and we all know that faith is so important that, without it, we cannot please God! (Hebrews 11:6). Faith in action is what pleases God. Faith is activated by the vision(s) we receive from God. Vision has to be grasped strongly enough to enable us to rise above all the negative voices that are in the world and the church today. There are many who tell us what we cannot do ~ very few who encourage us as to what we can do; to rise with the vision we carry in our hearts. Vision is for every individual believer to fulfil! Therefore, let us ask ourselves some serious and hard questions so we can see how we are doing with regards fulfilling the vision of God for our lives. Can you write down in one sentence what vision you carry in God right now? Is your vision genuine and real? Is that vision dwelling in you strongly enough for you to make the decision to take it to the next stage of fulfilment? If not, why not? Faith is not simply talking and quoting Scriptures; faith is an action. The Holy Spirit told me: “A vision that is real produces a faith that works!” You have to demonstrate that you are carrying something real from the heart of God! Do you know what the next step is? Do you need to share your vision with someone else who believes in you, so he/they can help you to get to the next stage of fulfilment? Are you aware of any hindrances getting in the way (besides yourself)? Are there things that need to be dealt with or removed out of your life so that you can make further good progress? For me the voice of God has given me vision to do things that I had no concept of before He spoke. Much of The GFM Ministry has been birthed and operated on that principle. As a result I am very fulfilled in living in an ongoing vision of impacting thousands of lives around the world without having to “beg and plead” for people to support us “to get the work of God done.” I walk and live according to the vision God gave me. He said that if I would do what He asked of me, He would show us what He could do. Over the years He has provided hundreds of thousands of dollars to enable us to fulfil the vision! Praise the Lord! One reason why so many Holy Spirit-filled Christians today are sitting in churches “frustrated to the eye-balls” is because vision is not being cultivated in each individual’s heart. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is “power for service,” not “power for sitting” (Acts 1:8)! When we are not functioning in the purpose for which Jesus Christ saved us, then the Holy Spirit within us is frustrated. And if He is frustrated within us, you can guarantee that we are frustrated too! Catching hold of a vision from God can change all that! Let this be a time in our lives when we can demonstrate to God afresh that He is indeed “Number One” in our lives and show Him by our commitment to Him that He indeed does come first. That kind of commitment will bring forth a new and challenging vision within our hearts that will enable us to rise up and accomplish things we have never done before. It has nothing to do with age, or how long we have been a Christian ~ but how available to God and His purposes we are! Vision is so important that without it people ~ and us included ~ “perish” (Proverbs 29:18, KJV). ~ Rodney W. Francis. Bible Readings: Acts 26:12-23; 1 Corinthians Chapter 2; Ephesians 1:15-23; Colossians 1:9-18. “Dear God, I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, and I ask You to help me to be really serious about the teachings and vision of Jesus Christ for my life, so that I may fulfil that purpose for which He has laid a hold of me. Help me to eliminate all doubts and negative voices that would hinder me from fulfilling Your vision for my life. I ask You to stir me, and liberate me, to be the man/woman of God with power that You have called me to be. Help me to clearly listen to You, Lord Jesus, so that I may distinctly discern Your divine will and purposes. I really do want to be an effective and fruitful minister of Your Supernatural Gospel in my day and generation. I desire to fulfil Your vision for my life! In Jesus' name, I pray these things. Amen."
