Holy Spirit Ministry Is Creative
HOLY SPIRIT MINISTRY IS CREATIVE
By Rodney W. Francis
A major reason why we need to be working together with the Holy Spirit is because that way of ministering is very creative ~ when obeyed. Why is this so? When we are ministering with the Holy Spirit we are ministering Spirit to spirit to people, not head knowledge to head knowledge. It is a completely different realm to the natural way of thinking. And it is much more powerful and effective when those receiving prophetic words will believe them and take them to heart. The words of Jesus are “spirit and they are life”. This is what He declared: “It is the Spirit Who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit and they are life” (John 6:63).
The whole ‘key’ to the Christian life is in our ability to hear, receive and be able to give to others what the Holy Spirit speaks to us. Whatever the Holy Spirit speaks to us is always right for us and will always glorify Jesus Christ. The words of the Holy Spirit are eternal words. When we receive them, it starts something in us that can last throughout time and into all eternity!
THE VALLEY OF DRY BONES
In Ezekiel 37 we read of the valley of dry bones. Those bones were so dead and dry that only a miracle of God could change them. But they did change! How? God told Ezekiel to prophesy to those bones and tell them “to hear the word of God” (Ezekiel 37:4). In the natural that is impossible for dead, dry bones to hear! But in the spiritual realm anything can happen when we obey God. “So Ezekiel prophesied as he was commanded” (v.7). It is interesting to note that the miracle of the restoration of those dead, dry bones to living human beings again was done in stages. And each stage required Ezekiel to prophesy to those bones. This chapter reveals to us the power of prophesying what God tells us to prophesy. It brings life out of death. It changes hopeless situations and turns them round for the glory of God! And the word of God declares to us today: “For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged” . . . “Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues” (1 Corinthians 14:31 & 39).
For Ezekiel, the end result was an army of resurrected human beings. It is interesting to note that the Bible tells us how those bones became dead and dried up. It was through the negative confession those formerly alive people had of themselves: “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They indeed say, ‘Our bones are dry, our hope is lost, and we ourselves are cut off’” (Ezekiel 37:11).
-
They self-destructed through a negative confession about themselves!
-
Is it any different today?
-
So many professing Christians have negative confessions about themselves; are full of excuses as to why they cannot do this or that, etc.
-
Instead of being alive and vibrant witnesses of Jesus Christ, they are just existing on a day-to-day routine of putting themselves down, struggling with hurts from the past, etc., and not achieving anything useful for the Kingdom of God.
-
It takes the power of the prophetic ministry to speak resurrection life into those people so they can rise up, leave the past behind them and be effective witnesses to Jesus Christ.
Consider what is being said here. What kind of confession do you have about yourself? Are you still hurting over past abuses that you may have suffered? Be encouraged to put whatever it is that is causing that negative confession onto God’s altar and leave it there with Him. Then be very sure to forgive those who have caused your negativity. Release them out of your heart and spirit through that forgiveness; forgive yourself also, and then ask the Holy Spirit to fill you afresh with Himself.

With the Holy Spirit in our lives we should not be negative people!
WE ARE CHOSEN OF GOD TO BE WORKERS TOGETHER WITH HIM!
In 2 Corinthians 6:1-2 it says: “We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says: ‘In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you’. Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation”.
God has chosen and saved us to work together with Him. With Him all things are possible. And He has told us that all things are possible to those who believe Him! (Mark 9:23 & Mark 10:27). When we are working together with God then the creative Holy Spirit uses us to do creative things and to speak things into existence, etc. Look at what the Scriptures reveal about the ministry of Jesus. So many of His miracles, signs and wonders only happened after He asked someone to say or do something right outside of the natural, logical thinking realm (see John 2:1-11, the turning of water into wine; Luke 5:1-11, the miraculous catch of fish). Others were blessed and impacted as a result of someone’s obedience to the voice of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. A creativity happened when someone obeyed the Master!
JOHN ON PATMOS
In revelation Chapter 1 we read of John’s experience on the Island of Patmos. He had been banished as a result of being criticized, rejected and ex-communicated to die a slow painful death. Patmos was known as an island that did not produce anything and so people were sent there to die a cruel, slow death of starvation. In the natural John could have gone on ‘a self-pity party’ and given up all hope of escaping from that place, but he made a decision to be “in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day” (v.10). He knew His future was dependent upon God and so he yielded himself to the Holy Spirit and had an encounter with God that changed his negative circumstances into a positive, creative future.

In the Holy Spirit “we see and hear Jesus!”
John was told to write in a book what he saw. He was told to create a book that would go to the seven churches in Asia (v.11). Instead of him dying of starvation he lived! Multiplied millions of people have benefitted from John writing and creating what we now know as The Book Of Revelation. Praise the Lord!
JESUS HAS GIVEN US THE ANSWERS FOR THIS GENERATION
As we listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit, He will lead and guide us to bring creative answers to others. So many are needing to experience a resurrection through the power of God in their lives. So many have locked-up inside of themselves a creativity that only the Holy Spirit can release. He will use whoever is willing and available to Him to obey whatever He asks of us. There is always someone waiting on the other side of our obedience!
We need to ask ourselves: “How willing am I to do a new creative thing if the Holy Spirit asks me to do something I have never done before?” Our faith will never grow if we are not willing and prepared to be stretched outside of our ‘comfort zone’. It is in the doing of new and creative things that our faith grows the best. The key to this is in our total commitment to do whatever the Holy Spirit asks of us. It is our obedience to what He says to us that unties His hands to bring to pass what He has spoken. Faith and obedience go hand-in-hand when we are obeying the word of the Lord to us! Faith and obedience means activating what Jesus says to us. Unless we activate our faith through obedience we will never see the signs, wonders and miracles that God wants us to see and experience as a result of our simple obedience to what He says to us. God can use us to do creative new things for His glory. Hallelujah! Go for it! Glorify Jesus through your total obedience to what He asks of you!
