Let The Power Of God Work!
LET THE POWER OF GOD WORK!
By Rodney W. Francis
“I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, Who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think” (Ephesians 3:16-20, NLT).
The Bible is full of glorious promises to those who believe and receive its truth. It reveals the heart of God toward those who trust in Him and seek to abide in His love. He has mighty power available to those who will take Him at His word and step out in faith on that word. Walking with Jesus Christ is a powerful experience and relationship that nothing else in this world can come anywhere near to compare or compete with.
-
It is up to us to demonstrate our faith and believing to Jesus so His mighty power can be released to work in us and through us to impact other lives as well.
-
Christianity is not a set of theories; it is a daily, living relationship with the Living King of kings and Lord of lords, Jesus Christ.
The world desperately needs the Christian message as it is the only one that can completely change lives and prepare them for all eternity. But unless the world sees the reality of Jesus Christ in us who believe, then they are blinded to who He really is. We are called and chosen of God to be “imitators (followers) of God” (Ephesians 5:1). The more we follow Him, the more we will be like Him ~ in word and in deed. We are told to “be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves” (James 1:22). “. . . the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it” (Hebrews 4:1-2). This explains why there is so much deception in Christian circles these days: far too many Christians do not apply the word heard into a practical outworking act of obedience to God. We leave it to others to take the risks.
-
But what kind of Christianity do we have if we are not able to personally prove the truth, reality and power of God in and through our own lives??
God’s will is that we are “workers together with Him” (2 Corinthians 6:1). We need to be reminded that the ministry of Jesus on earth was always to involve His disciples, getting them equipped, teaching them how the power of God can work through them. He included them in the working of miracles. He was teaching them how He was walking and working in the will of God His Father, and that He had been sent to this world to reveal God to us. He trained His disciples in a way that their lives would be so transformed that they would reveal Jesus wherever they went. There are a number of Scriptures that teach us that Jesus never leaves us; that He goes with us wherever we go (for He now lives inside of us) (Matthew 28:20; Hebrews 13:5 are just two). Why should we be lacking in the realm of the power of God being activated through us? One of the major reasons is because we have not understood the power of His indwelling love and have allowed fear to reign where faith should. We are more afraid of what other people might say of us than we are of what God says of us. Each of us is responsible and answerable to God for the way we live as Christians. He has given us a great commission (Mark 16:15-20), told us what to do and to let signs, wonders and miracles follow what we say and declare. The early Church disciples had a transformation in their hearts and lives when the Holy Spirit came on the Day of Pentecost and filled them to overflowing with the love and power of God. They went forth in boldness and began to turn their world “upside down” (Acts 17:6) as people saw undeniable evidence that Jesus was indeed alive from the dead ~ living in them!
-
The same Holy Spirit is available to us today!
-
Make sure you are filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking in other tongues so you can have a daily spirit-to-Spirit relationship with the Living Christ Jesus!
-
Unless people see some real evidence that Jesus is alive today, then they will not believe our message.
-
JESUS SHOULD BE ALIVE IN US!!
-
Theories do not transform lives ~ it takes the power of God demonstrated through ordinary people like you and me!
God wants to empower us more and more with His unlimited resources, so that we will be His true witnesses in an unbelieving world that Jesus Christ is alive today and lives inside of us. He wants His love and power to be actively operating in and through us to impact a world that desperately needs Jesus too!
-
There is no greater honour or privilege than to be representing Jesus Christ on the earth today.
-
And the reward is spending eternity with Jesus!
THE TRUE LOVE OF GOD CONQUERS ALL FEAR!
The motivation for serving Jesus and operating in the power of God is having the love of God functioning in and through us. “God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love” (1 John 4:16-18).
It is a fact that it is very easy for us Christians to say simple words like “love, joy, peace, trust, hope, faith” etc. but often we do not know the real meaning of those words nor the power of their working in our lives. The love of God activated in our lives conquers the tactics of the enemy, and enables us to do the will of God fearlessly! Look again at the Scripture just quoted: “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment” (“a pruning; hence in the New Testament: punishment, i.e. a cutting off, the double result of which is – like that of pruning a plant – that he who is so cut off or punished, is destroyed, and those who are saved are the better for the absence of those who are so cut off” – Bullinger’s).
-
Fear is destructive!
-
It defeats the purposes and will of God from being fulfilled in our lives!
-
We must face our fears and allow the love of Jesus to actively work in and through our lives. For it is LOVE that conquers fear!
It concerns me that so many Christians do not face up to their fears and ask God to teach them how to love people. It is through loving people that we demonstrate our love for God. We only love God as much as we love one another! Seriously consider this Scripture: “If someone says, ‘I love God,’ and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also” (1 John 4:201-21). Until we experience the reality of God’s love, then we will live a powerless Christian life. The power of God can never operate through a fearful person. Fear is a controller and takes the place of God in our lives!
Even our faith is to be motivated and working through love (Galatians 5:6). Therefore, the power of God is very much linked into the love of God. The more we know that God has chosen you and me to set up residence in, the more we will realize that wherever we go He goes with us. Therefore divine possibilities, actions and works can be released out of us wherever we are and go! It is time we get set free of theories and get actively involved in being a worker together with God and seeing what He can do through a yielded and committed life that He lives inside!
