The Gospel Of Jesus Christ Is Supernatural
The Gospel Of Jesus Christ Is Supernatural! By Rodney W. Francis When we do an honest reading and searching of the Scriptures we soon discover that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is supernatural. It takes a supernatural happening for us to be born-again by the Holy Spirit. It takes a supernatural happening for us to be baptized in the Holy Spirit. It takes a supernatural enabling for us to live the Christian life, as it is so different to the logical, reasoning way of life that we are all taught to live by. Jesus came to bring us into a whole new way of life and living. And it only happens by His supernatural anointing and strength in our hearts and lives.
When Jesus was here on earth He demonstrated a supernatural Gospel; He taught a supernatural Gospel, and He gave His disciples power and authority to do supernatural things. Before He returned to His Father in heaven He gave commandment for His followers/disciples to make sure they were filled with the power of the Holy Spirit in order for them to be His witnesses and to carry on His ways and works (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8). Without the power (the Greek word is “dunamis”) of the Holy Spirit working in and through their lives, there would be no way they could fulfil the Great Commission (Mark 16:15-20) through supernatural enablings, or to live in victory over the power and works of our enemy, Satan. Spiritual forces have to be conquered by spiritual means! Spiritual forces are more powerful than any of our natural abilities, and therefore we need that supernatural power of God working through us to gain the victory over our enemy! Jesus sent this power personally to us ~ what are we doing with it? Jesus said: “But you shall receive power (“dunamis”) ~ ability, efficiency and might ~ when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends ~ the very bounds ~ of the earth” (Acts 1:8, AMP.). “Now to Him Who is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or conceive, by the power (“dunamis”) which is at work among us . . .” (Ephesians 3:20, NEB). According to these Scriptures the “dunamis” has already been given, but its power is only beneficial when it is working ~ in US!! The “dunamis” was given to us when we received the infilling of the Holy Spirit after we believed on Jesus Christ! “Dunamis” is a Greek word and means: “act of power” (Young’s); “miraculous power, ability”(Strong’s); “natural capability, inherent power; capability of anything, ability to perform anything; then, absolutely, not merely power capable of action, but, power in action”(Bullinger’s). “Dunamis” is used 121 times in the New Testament and translated into the following English words: ability (1), abundance (1), meaning (1), might (4), mighty deed (1), mighty work (11), miracle (8), power (77), strength (7), violence (1), virtue (3), wonderful work (1), worker of miracles (1), and mighty (4). “Dunamis” is the power of God working in and through us through the anointing power of the Holy Spirit! That “dunamis” comes into us at the Baptism of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8). That “dunamis” is resident in us right now! But it will only work when we release it to work! That is why we need to be sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit and be committed to do whatever He tells us. That is the simple key to Christianity ~ doing what He says through the power of the Holy Spirit!(See my booklet, “The ‘Dunamis’ Power Of God” or Faith Message No. 31). Let’s face it: New Covenant Christianity is in reality “CHRIST IN YOU, the hope of glory”(Colossians 1:26-27). The Bible declares that it is the same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead Who now lives in our mortal bodies (Romans 8)! What does this mean? It means that we have dwelling within us right now the risen Jesus Christ alive in us, and the same Holy Spirit that raised Him from the dead making alive our mortal bodies by supernatural power! Surely that has to have some supernatural evidence being revealed in the lives of every truly born-again, Holy Spirit-filled Christian today?! True Christians are now sons and daughters of the Supernatural, Living God, Who has chosen to take up residence inside of us! We cannot remain the same when Jesus is alive within us by His resurrection, supernatural power! We say we believe the Bible, but it is quite sad to see that most of the New Covenant Revelation that Jesus came to bring us is largely ignored or misunderstood by the Christian Church today! We have exchanged the supernatural happenings of God for mere theological belief systems and church traditions. We have become like Paul warned in Timothy: “Having a form of godliness but denying its power (“dunamis”)” (2 Timothy 3:5). We are told to turn away from such people! The Bible is clear: “For the Kingdom of God is not in word but in power (“dunamis”)” (1 Corinthians 4:20)! Powerless beliefs and people have no influence, nor make any impact upon an unbelieving, Christ-rejecting generation. They have to see that Jesus Christ is Real and Alive in the lives of those who believe, trust and obey Him! EXERCISING SPIRITUAL GIFTS IN LOVE IS PART OF THE SUPERNATURAL GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST! The supernatural of God within us causes us to want to see the lost saved, the sick healed, the oppressed and captives set free, the meeting of the peoples’ needs (whatever they are) to the glory of Jesus our Living Lord. We are now His representatives, His ambassadors (motivated by love) who have been given power and authority to speak and act on His behalf (2 Corinthians 5:20)! God has given us nine wonderful Gifts of the Holy Spirit to enable us to function in supernatural ways (1 Corinthians 12). For every time we step out in exercising a Spiritual Gift (they are in the Holy Spirit Who is living in us), we are ministering Spirit to spirit to people. When we minister that way we are establishing truths and things in the lives of the people we minister to for time and into all eternity ~ for the words of Jesus are “spirit and they are life” (John 6:63). We are releasing the Spirit of God to do supernatural things when we are working with the Holy Spirit and His Gifts! Be encouraged to“stir up those gifts of God” more and more in your life (2 Timothy 1:6-7). They are “keys” to exercising Kingdom of God realities today! Right now God is looking for people who will simply believe Him enough to align themselves with His purposes. When we are born-again by His Holy Spirit we become ideal candidates for God to fill with supernatural power and abilities to enable us to fulfil all His will here on earth. Let us not “short-change” ourselves any longer, and put aside from our lives any negative thoughts and beliefs that tell us we are unworthy or incapable of doing what Jesus told us we could. We are now a part of His Supernatural Gospel, and we have been given “Power over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19).
